To learn to read fluently, in a new language, you need a lot of practice. You can do that with this collection of folktales for beginning readers of Dutch. Each story is written at three levels. This way they match the different stages of development of reading skills, and are also very good to use in heterogeneous groups.

Food for thought

The stories are simply written, but the topics are rich and offer language learners much to talk about. They are about trickery and deceit, wealth and poverty, right and wrong, love and jealousy. About lying, humor, being clever or wise counsel. The stories come from the oral traditions of various countries, such as Turkey, China, Kazakhstan, Suriname, Indonesia, Morocco, Australia, Eritrea and the Netherlands.

All stories in this volume are audio recorded. With the code in the front of the book you get access to the corresponding website, where you can listen to all audio and consult lesson suggestions for working with this collection.
