Calculus and math language
WISK | Accessible math language learning
WISK covers more than 250 math words as used in mathematics methods for junior vmbo/havo and vwo. The method offers many practical exercises and clear full-color illustrations that help make concepts such as “parallel” and “opposite sides” understandable to the ISK student.
Clear and communicative
The strength of WISK lies in its clarity, overview and in the classroom component, in which all forms of language acquisition are addressed (speaking, writing, listening and reading). Communicating about mathematics is of great importance to learn and consolidate a mathematical understanding in the right way.
Straight from practice
The method WISK was written by a math teacher in an ISK. It addresses the concrete problems that foreign-language learners encounter within Dutch mathematics education.
Publications on two levels
WISK consists of a workbook and textbook in one and is available at two levels. For route 1 & 2 there is WISK-X and for route 3 there is WISK-Y. The method consists of 6 chapters (30 lessons) and 6 tests. In the book you will find a code that gives access to the online extra material in NT2 School.
