Practising Natural Dutch with Language Raps

With Iedereen klaar? Rappen maar! learners practise natural Dutch in an active and enjoyable way. This publication contains 55 language raps for Dutch learners from A2 level onwards, helping them practise useful phrases and fixed expressions they can immediately use in everyday situations.

Recognisable Situations and Themes

The language raps connect to familiar themes and situations such as health, work, travel, money, leisure activities and traffic. Learners do not only practise vocabulary and grammar, but also discover what real spoken Dutch sounds like.

Learning through Rhythm and Repetition

Each language rap is available in three different versions:

• as a dialogue to listen to;

• with repetition for guided practice;

• with pauses so learners can repeat and rap along themselves.

Thanks to the rhythm, repetition and spoken-language style, learners improve their pronunciation, intonation and fluency.

Spoken Language and Everyday Expressions

Learners practise common Dutch expressions such as ‘Daar houd ik je aan’ (“I’ll hold you to that”), ‘Ik kom mijn medicijnen halen’ (“I’m here to pick up my medication”) and ‘Ik heb geen oog dicht gedaan’ (“I didn’t sleep a wink”). In this way, they become familiar with authentic spoken Dutch and everyday expressions.
