NT2 Cahier Uitspraak en spelling
Working on intelligible Dutch
Importance of pronunciation
Good pronunciation is very important to be understood in Dutch as a non-native speaker. A different phoneme gives a different meaning. Take, for example, the difference between a tie and a bag.
Yet this aspect of the Dutch language still sometimes gets caught between a rock and a hard place. Moreover, many teachers are uncertain about their own knowledge of Dutch pronunciation rules. As a result, they sometimes do not dare to give feedback on their students' pronunciation.
Pronunciation and spelling
In this cahier, author Margreet Verboog describes the differences between pronunciation and spelling in Dutch and the stumbling blocks for students. In addition, this booklet offers tools for treating pronunciation in class and giving feedback.
The NT2-Cahier Uitspraak en spelling consists of fifteen chapters with clear explanations of Dutch pronunciation rules. The booklet also contains tools for designing your pronunciation lessons.
