Prof. dr. Geert Smid is psychiater, psychotraumatherapeut Nederlandstalige Vereniging voor Psychotrauma (NtVP), supervisor Nederlandse Vereniging voor Psychotherapie (NVP), plaatsvervangend opleider psychiatrie en senior onderzoeker bij ARQ Centrum '45 / ARQ Nationaal Psychotrauma Centrum.

 

Hij heeft uitgebreid gepubliceerd in wetenschappelijke tijdschriften en boeken over de prevalentie, diagnose en behandeling van PTSS en persisterende rouw, stress sensibilisatie en verschillende vormen van evidence based trauma- en rouwgericht zorgaanbod.

 

Zijn huidige onderzoek naar psychotrauma, verlies en rouw richt zich op betekenisgeving na verlies, epidemiologische en culturele aspecten, diagnostiek, preventie, behandeling, palliatieve zorg en ontwikkelen van een rouwzorgnetwerk.
