Choose the right exam route

I am obliged to civic integration, but I do not want to follow a course after civic integration.

The civic integration exam is a suitable exam if you will not be attending a course after civic integration.

I am obliged to civic integration and I want to attend an MBO course after civic integration.

To be admitted to an MBO course after your civic integration, you need a certificate of the Staatsexamen NT2 Programme I. Your Dutch language proficiency must be at B1 level to pass this exam. In addition to the Staatsexamen NT2 Programme I, you will also have to pass two separate exam components to civic integration: Kennis van de Nederlandse Maatschappij (KNM) and Oriëntatie op de Nederlandse Arbeidsmarkt (ONA).

HBO programmes and university studies require a certificate of the Staatsexamen NT2 Programme II. Your Dutch language proficiency must be at B2 level to pass this exam. In addition to the Staatsexamen NT2 Programme II, you also have to pass two separate examinations to become a citizen: KKennis van de Nederlandse Maatschappij (KNM) and Oriëntatie op de Nederlandse Arbeidsmarkt (ONA). Did you become obliged to integrate after 1 October 2017? Then you must also sign the participation declaration.

I am looking for a job at mbo level and I want to increase my chances of finding a job.

It is not compulsory to have a diploma from the Staatsexamen NT2 if you start looking for a job in the Netherlands. But it can help you get hired. If you want to increase your chances of getting a job at MBO level, you choose the Staatsexamen NT2 Programme I.

Would you like to increase your chances of finding a job at college or university level with proof of your Dutch language skills? Then choose the Staatsexamen NT2 Programme II. A diploma from this exam will show that you have mastered Dutch at B2 level, which may help you get hired for a job.
