Diploma evaluation: How do you do that?

Have you obtained a degree in your home country? And can you use that diploma to find work in the Netherlands? Then you can have your diploma evaluated. A diploma evaluation shows what your diploma is worth in the Netherlands.

You can apply for your diploma evaluation once for free. This is done via the Informatiecentrum Diplomawaardering website. Request your diploma evaluation as soon as possible. It takes at least four weeks to get the evaluation.

Costs

The Orientation on the Dutch Labour Market (Oriëntatie op de Nederlandse Arbeidsmarkt, ONA) exam costs € 40.00. This exam is part of the integration exam, but you can also do the ONA exam separately. This is required, for example, if you do NT2 State Examination to integrate.

Borrowing money

To pay for the costs of the exam and any integration course, you can apply for a loan of up to € 10,000.00 from the Education Executive Agency (Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs, DUO).

Courses

When you follow an integration course at a language school, attention is nearly always paid to the ONA exam as well. On the Blik Op Werk website, you will find an overview of all the language schools in the Netherlands that have a certification. It is important for two reasons to choose a course with the certification:

Only if you attend at least a 64-hour course at a school with the certification do you not have to do a final interview with DUO.
If you want to borrow money from DUO for a course, you may only follow a course that has this certification from Blik Op Werk.

There are also schools offering separate ONA courses. These courses are more intensive than the ONA part of an integration course. Separate ONA courses can be found by searching the internet.
