Description

Taalraps allows you to actively practice one of the most difficult aspects of learning a new language: natural everyday speech with the correct accentuation.

Taalraps (‘language raps’) are texts or raps that use rhythm to help students learn the natural accentuation patterns in Dutch.

There are simple and more complicated taalraps, so that both beginners and advanced learners can practice their Dutch pronunciation. The raps can be used as a catchy in-class method, but are also very suitable for individual use.

Content

Taalraps focusses on the pronunciation of Dutch. The book contains 63 raps. Each rap also deals with subjects that are relevant to the language learner:

  • familiar themes from language class (greeting, family);
  • important speech acts (opinion sharing, apologising);
  • pronunciation (/UI/, word stress);
  • grammar (‘om te’, the word ‘er’).

Audio files of the raps are available on the accompanying website. An online teacher’s manual is also available. This product grants 1 year access to the online program with the material.

Target audience

Taalraps is intended for non-speakers of Dutch who want to improve their Dutch pronunciation. It is suitable for both beginners and advanced learners, for any group of any size and level. All age groups, even toddlers, can work with the method; in fact, it is particularly suitable for children and adolescents. Adults often also have a lot of fun working with Taalraps.
