The story behind Taaly

Founder Shadi Alhakimi knows from personal experience how challenging it can be to learn Dutch as a newcomer. When he fled Yemen in 2015 and arrived in Ter Apel, he noticed how difficult it was to make contact and learn the language.

What started as a WhatsApp group quickly grew into something more. “It was too cumbersome to keep making appointments,” he says. “I thought: there has to be an easier way.” And that's how Taaly came about.

Why we are excited about this collaboration
